WHAT Fell is all about is pretty simple. We love waking up in the morning and remembering that today is the day you are going to take on one of Britain’s many peaks. At the moment we (I say we but I haven't yet had chance to introduce who WE are) are focused on Lakeland and following in the inspirational footsteps of the grand Alfred Wainwright.
So who is behind Fell, to begin there is myself, Greg, a sports journalism graduate, currently working as an ETA supporting and teaching pupils with varying degrees of deafness. I have always loved to write and my degree developed that skill, but in the last twelve months, if I am honest with you, I have neglected that interest. Enthusiasms; mine are dogs, sport of all kinds, gaming, animals, beer, food and of course the outdoors, whether that be camping, trekking, walking or whatever you call it, that’s me.
The next person I would like to introduce to you is my partner Claire, she’s an excellent writer with an incredible eye for detail. Ideal job for Claire would be a movie continuity editor, she is always pointing out hollywood mistakes in films and it’s bewildering how I just missed it. As a media production grad, Claire went into university with a natural skill in photography. Her eye for good composition will have you enjoying some stunning lakeland vistas without a doubt.
Finally I need to introduce Jasper, the Labrador Poodle mix, or Labradoodle if you prefer. This one is always the first to the summits whether he is on or off the lead. He is currently just over two years old and becoming a brilliantly behaved lad. He enjoys chasing any birdlife, balls and sticks. Swimming in Coniston but only Coniston, eating leftovers and obviously his walks, especially his camping trips to Cumbria. Jasp is also remarkably fond of the views in Lakeland, for a dog he often and consistently stops at the edge of a ridge or arete and looks out meaningfully and scans the world below, as if to say, “I could get used to this”.

So now that you have become acquainted with what we call #TeamFell, we are doing this because it makes us happy, we want to tell you about where we have been, what we have been up to, what gear were using and what gear we are planning on getting. We want to discuss technical language with you guys and look at the history of things like the mountain rescue. We also DON”T want it to just be a one way thing, we don’t just want to ram everything we do down your throat! We want to hear from you! Please be active in the comments, help us improve! Tell us what you've been up to. We are also wanting to establish a section or slideshow known as Dogs on Fell, where Jasper and his canine companions will hopefully be joined by beautiful photos of your dogs whether it be on a leisurely local walk or a scramble up Great Gable.
This blog was born in my head while walking on top of the ridge leading up from Helm Crag towards Calf Crag and beyond to Sergeant Man, the rain was just beginning to dampen the seams of my jacket and within my cocoon like peaked hood, the thought of documenting our adventures on the fells began to develop. The thought that some of this might actually turn out entertaining hadn't crossed my mind until we returned home from our latest Lakeland trip and I sat down and stared at a blank scrap of paper. I thought its okay writing up report style content about all the peaks we have conquered but we don't live close enough to the Lake District to make it viable to have enough content. So the journalist within stirred and I started thinking of ideas for features and reviews and other kinds of series’s that could interest a similar person to myself. After scrawling what I still perceive to be a good set of basic ideas and concepts I realised that some might actually make this blog stand out from the crowd and get noticed by the people that I want to read it. People who love the fells, peaks, mountains and summits, and everything that comes with it.
So what does the future hold, well we are hoping to introduce some multimedia to the blog with some video reviews and plenty of photos. We have loads of ideas but really it needs you to help us. So please support us, be active in the comments, we would love to here from you and please subscribe, go do that right now. Bang your e-mail address in the "Follow Fell by e-mail" box and never miss anything we try our hands at!
Cheers
#TeamFell
